This website has lots of other useful information especially for young artists who need advice on setting themselves up for the future and gives pointers on planning work.
I have visited this website about an artist called David Kemp who relates to this project and I like the way he works because he has fun but bases his work on his experiences and things he has seen in his life or things that influence him.

I wrote down some notes on the two interviews I watched.
Another artist I discovered who is similar to David is Tim Hunkin but Tim creates machinery out of machanical objects , this is the website I visited which was an interview but a written down one. I find this interesting and his words influenced me.

on a part of his website he says this ' I had many offers of exhibitions in provincial galleries and decided to make a touring exhibition. This turned into a set of characters looking at art – partly because I have childhood memories of finding the other people in art galleries more interesting than the art'
which I find interesting and I didnt think about it in that way until now, so next time I vistit a gallery or museum I will take more notice in the people looking at the art aswell.
Here is one example of work he has done based on this.

HEAD OF SCULPTURE, 1982
Another artist I disovered who works with found objects is Joseph Cornell who creates boxes, I am really inspired by his work because it has a vintage look to it.
The link to his website is

I find it inspiring that he uses old books photographs and pieces of music and I feel that this is a way I would like to go and I think I would enjoy creating similar pieces of work to him. I also noticed that he seems to use natural objects and imagery which is what attracts me to his work aswell.

I have visited Manchester City art gallery, where the Grayson perry exhibition was on , I found it interesting but I don't find many things in this gallery relevant to my projects, nothing really caught my eye and influenced me that much.
I found this painting of a lion most interesting as I felt upset because it is dead, I feel that the artist who created this piece wanted this sort of reaction from the viewers, this inspires me as this is what I want out of my own work, to get a reaction off the views and make people think.
20th January 2014
Some of the work was really interesting which made you think, especially if it was unique.
This is one of the sculptures that I saw which was made out of found objects, this relates to my project and looking at this helped me with ideas. Something this simple can still be really effective.
The first part of this exhibition was work done by amar kamwar who raised awareness of people being killed unfairly because they are protesting against their homes and town being destroyed because of businesses being built ect.
I found that it was quite disturbing and it made me feel sad that peoples homes are destroyed because of this and they were being shot, put into prison and some even killed for standing up for their town.
This was the lying down protest where even children were involved which gives me the idea that they could have been injured aswell, I left that room feeling upset for these people, and I know realise the power that artists have to change people's emotions and the way they think. An artist like myself can raise awareness of things happening in everyday life. I would like to create work like this so that viewers understand the point I am trying to get across.
I feel that this piece of work shows how dedicated the artist was about his work aswell as his home town as he's done work based on it and what he believes aswell as protesting. Which caused him his life.
Eduardo paolozzi pieces
I like these pieces of work because they are mechanical but quite unusual, it inspires me to use unique shapes and to play around with the positioning of them.
This is a piece the artist created before he got killed.

I have watched a documentary 'Ross kemp: extreme world ' this was about human trafficing.
It was very disturbing and It made me angry that this is happening in the world.
I now feel influenced to try and make people realise how bad it is.
In A place in India, every family is missing a daughter who have been taken or sold and forced into work as prostetutes.
One girl was telling her story that she got taken at the age of 12 and locked in a room on her own,
10-15 men we're visiting her per day.
This really upset me and i can't imagine how scared these girls are, especially with some of them being sold as sex slave from the age of 9,and taken from their families as young as 2. it was very very upsetting to hear what these men were doing to these girls at such a young age, I feel so disturbed by this. I have researched and I found an article about this on the daily mirror online, here is the link to it. http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/ross-kemp-on-the-scandal-of-human-trafficking-117548
I want to research more into this and try to create a piece of work based on it to raise awareness.
27th January 2014
I have experimented with different printing techniques. Going to this studio has made me realise that I want to get my own studio or share one with somebody else, so that I can do work on my own terms and when I want to. I would have another part time job so that I can pay to be an independent practitioner.
This was the printing room
This was the 3D/sculpting room
This was the painting room.
I feel that doing this could be very helpful because you can help eachother out as well as getting ideas from eachother. It's also a chance to do pieces of work together.
An sulptor that worked in this studio was called Jill Randall. She worked with found objects and also took old sculptures apart to create new ones which is a good way of working.
The painter that worked in the studio was called Liam spencer, I was really attracted to his work and it's inspired me to start my own paintings in the same style to see if it's a good way for me to work. I also like the way he paints into primed wood instead if canvas which is something I think I will try myself.
31st january 2014
I watched another documentary of Ross Kemp: Extreme world, this time it was about all of the violence that goes on in papua new guinea especially to women as people hunt for 'witches'. I found this very disturbing just like the last episode, I have researched and found this article about it on mail online, here is the link.
I am now looking at a different idea that was influenced by the documentary I watched about human trafficking and violence in different countries, I have also had influence to layer images from magazines from artists called hannah hoch and micheal landy. I want to raise awareness of this and replace the less important things in magazines such as fashion, soaps, porn for the more important things in life that need to be stopped such as trafficking.
I have found a video on the mail online which shows a woman before and after she was photoshopped, this has helped me realise that nobody is perfect so people need to stop obsessing over it and start to think about the more important things in life. An idea is that I could find an image of a trafficked woman/girl or a woman thats been abused and try and photoshop it myself to show the difference.
Here is the link to the images and video.
Hannah Hoch 1st November 1889- 31st May 1978

I have taken influence from Hannah Hochs collages because of the way she pieces different images together, adding meaningful words and using different techniques and media.
I think that her work stands out to me because it is quirky and I have enjoyed creating collages like hers.
Michael Landy - British artist Born in 1963

I have also taken influence from Michael Landy as I find that his work linked in with the type of work I want to create myself, also because it is different and interesting. I like the way he uses mechanical parts aswell as body parts. I have done something similar with my work by replacing body parts for mechanical parts to represent the girls/women being controlled by the traffickers after being drugged and brain washed and I feel that they are turned into completely different people, almost like robots, which has lead me onto researching cyberculture which I am still at the beginning of, I haven't yet been able to get my head around it all, so now I know that I need to buy books on this to help me, some books I have found which I feel that will relate to my work are in these links

I have found a website with an interview of Michael landy, here is the link

This is what influenced my idea of cutting out images from magazines.
Kurt Schwitters
Kurt schwitters is another artist that I researched, he was born on the 20th June 1887 and died on the 8th January 1948. This piece of work is interesting because there seems to be hidden images and typography throughout it and it make you study it to try and understand it, my eyes are not just drawn to one place which is one thing that makes a piece of work successful, the words ‘these are the things we are fighting for’ at the bottom of the image makes me have an opinion on it, the imagery could be important to the artist and he obviously wants to get a message across to the viewers and I am unsure of what it could be.
His was of collaging influenced me to overlap and create busy pieces of work at the beggining of my project but then I went onto more simpler things.
I was still influenced to use words and phrases in my work as I find it an interesting way of working.
I was also influenced by the artist Willem De Kooning in my previous project for his unique ways of painiting, I looked at his technique and used it in my own way which I felt worked well for me.
The way his figures are hidden within the painting adds interest and this is why I used this tehcnique in my own way throughout my paintings. I also like the pastel colours he uses and this is also something that influenced me with my paintings, although they turned out more colourful than expected.
London/ Paris trip 3rd March-7th March 2014
We visited Natre Dame which is a popular cathedral as well as a tourist attraction.
I found that this was a nice building and inside was very peaceful.
I also went to the top of the a de triumph which is another tourist attraction, I really enjoyed it up there because the view was nice as the sun was setting, I took a few pictures whilst being up here.
This was the stairs going up to the arc de triumph which I found interesting and the I like the depth in this photograph.
I liked how nice it was at the top and the images I have taken give off a relaxed effect which is how I felt when I was there.
I was interested in how many people I saw doing artwork in the streets, whether it be onto the floor, a canvas or a piece of paper.
This man wrote on the floor ' I am an artist, I don't have any money, if you like this drawing, please help me. thankyou.
