Liverpool Tate Trip. Mondrian exhibition
I found that mondrian links nature with his work making a point that nature is always changing which is why he has the same piece of work done twice but uses different colours.
In his earlier pieces of work he used line, which is an idea that I take influence from in the future.
I found work from different artists that can be linked to my research and work, when I was walking around the rooms I was getting ideas on how to push my work in various ways to give me a wide range of experimentations to look back at and choose which has worked best for me and which I will use in the future, for me one idea always leads to another usually if I find the subject that I am studying an interesting one.
The artist that has influenced me the most recently is Chuck Close. I watched a youtube video on him and his work so that I could have a better understanding of the way he works, I was amazed at how much time was put into one piece as he creates large sized canvases as well as splitting it up into a grid which he then in fills one by one using different colours, which make up an image. I tried out this technique but I had my own way of using a grid, I also want my work to have a unique edge rather than a copy of someone else's techniques. I enjoy working with colour and detail which is probably why his work caught my eye.

Other artists that have influenced me so far in this academic year are
Picasso and
mondrian
Other pieces of work that I feel can influence me during the transformation project is
This is by R.B Kitaj and it is called bedroom. I think this piece can link in with what I am researching, The window frames reminded me of the grid and looking inside gave me an idea of doing a landscape, looking out of the window instead of looking in, the photographs that I have taken of the window frames in the Liverpool art gallery I will maybe use to create a piece of work that influenced by this.
I have started to watch other videos that I feel could help me as an artist, such as life drawing videos which is relevant to me personally because since I was younger and started to enjoy art, I have wanted to be able to achieve an accurate drawing which is realistic, as this is my idea of art, a realistic drawing or painting of something real. I still would like to keep trying to improve my drawing skills as this can help me lots with my work and I could then create paintings/drawings that I can be proud of. I also think that drawing is the main skill you need to have to be a successful artist which is why I am determined to create realistic work with my own twist and techniques by using colour aswell.
One example of a short video I watched on youtube is in this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDkXc-td1iM, this also leads to other life drawing videos that I may watch in the future.
A piece of work by Mondrian that I feel can influence me in a different way during my this project is Mondrian's charcoal piece which is called 'self - portrait' The technique he uses in this is something that I haven't tried yet but I feel could help me push my idea of portraiture, I could also add my own style on it by mixing the techniques and maybe adding colour. Here is an image of this piece of work.
