Mechanical Project
For this project I visited the Mosi museum to collect my primary research, I then developed it to create my final outcomes for each area. For graphics I created a poster advertising the museum, for Fine Art I created collograph prints and lino prints. For 3D I created salt and pepper pots made out of clay which I glazed as well and for textiles I made twelve small samples made out of material that I stitched together and I chose six of those samples to create on a bigger scale and I mounted four up.
This is some type that I saw on one of the airplains and I really liked it as it is simple but effective. This was part of my primay research. I decided to use it on my development.
For the Fine Art side of this poster I created Lino prints. This is an image on the lino which I has had the composition carved into it.
These are some of the prints that I created. For one of the prints I used orange as the main colour and yellow for the lines. For another print I used green for the main colour for the print shown on the right and then I used a pale green for the lines. For other prints I used just black and white for two of them and for another one I used black ink but printed on blue paper.
These are the twelve samples that I made by stitching together three shapes that I took from my developement. I chose natural colours such as browns and oranges because I thought that they fit in with the project which is mechanical.
I chose four of those samples and used a view finder to create new compositions then stitch the material together. I added patterns on some of the material by screen printing which makes a good effect.
This is a design sheet that helped me design the final samples and I planned out which patterns and colours to use as well.
To get to my final outcome in 3D I chose shapes from my sketchbook that I took from primary research and then thought of four different designs that was related to kitchens. The four I designed was a kettle, egg cups, salt and pepper pots and a jug.
The design I chose to use was salt and pepper pots, I then developed them further by changing them slightly. This gave me a wider choice of designs to choose to make.
I made salt and pepper pots for my final outcome in 3D. I then glazed them to make them more ascetically pleasing.
